Mike Gatting is our Captain for 2025

Former England and Middlesex Captain, Mike Gatting OBE, is to be the Society's Captain in our 90th Anniversary Year, 2025.

Gatt needs little introduction but it is fair to say that his record as a player and captain gives him legendary status. His first-class career spanned 24 seasons after his debut for Middlesex shortly after his 18th birthday. His test debut came just 30 months later at the age of 20. He went on to play 620 first-class matches, scoring just under 41,000 runs. He captained England in 23 Tests. Gatt's cricketing career is remembered for many things but perhaps the one that stands out most was his dismissal to the 'Ball of the Century' from Shane Warne at Old Trafford in 1993. However it should always be remembered that he is one of just 5 England Test Captains to have won the Ashes in Australia.

We are absolutely delighted that Gatt has agreed to lead the Society as we celebrate our 90th Annivesary.
