Long-standing Match Manager, Ted Clark, assembled a dazzling team for the annual encounter at the Royal Mid-Surrey with 5 former Test players and one current Middlesex regular but the members of the Royal Mid-Surrey were too strong for us on the day winning 5 and half to 2 and a half. The JH Taylor (Outer) Course was in magnificent condition, the weather got better as the day went on and the move to a 4 Ball Better Ball contest was greatly appreciated by all. As always, lunch was superb but the over-riding memory will be the warm welcome that we once again received from Major-General Richard Peck and the members of RMS. A terrific day despite the result. It was lovely to see the two immediate Past Presidents of Middlesex CCC, Harry Latchman and John Emburey, team up with current incumbent Mike Selvey line up for the Society along with former MCC President, Mike Gatting, former Kent President, John Shepherd, the great Gladstone Small and Middlesex keeper John Simpson! Fabulous day, much enjoyed by all. Our thanks as ever go the Royal Mid-Surrey for hosting us.
